Gearing up to spend some time outdoors and go hiking this summer? Join Dr. Katherine Spencer, Physical Therapist and Orthopedic Certified Specialist, at Dee Physical Therapy in Shelburne for a four week flexibility, balance, strength and conditioning class designed for hikers.
You might be asking yourself, “Don’t you just train for hiking by going for a hike?”. That’s one way to do it, but if you’re getting back into hiking after taking the winter off or your goal is to hike longer distances and reach higher summits, proper training is very important.
This class is will focus on the benefits of training for hiking with an emphasis on strength, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular preparation exercises. These exercises will reduce strain on your body while hiking and reduce your risk of injury. Being in shape for the hiking season will also make your time spent outdoors more enjoyable and fun!
Progressions and modifications of exercises will be provided based on your fitness level.
